Our Vision

Kankel Conroy Rose & Hill Landscape Architecture (KCRH) is a team of highly motivated, dedicated professionals with a commitment to constant improvement. Each team member is encouraged to strive for balance, growth and maturation of their professional and personal lives. The highest degree of mutual respect, recognition, communication, support and understanding extends throughout the office at all levels. The team finds the work they perform and the office environment stimulating, inspirational, educational and challenging.

KCRH strives for an open and lasting relationship with all of our clients. Our robust referral system, a testament to past client satisfaction, is the primary source of our ongoing projects. We are committed to a design and service-oriented approach to landscape architecture and planning, and we have elected to remain a relatively small office in order to provide direct principal and project manager involvement throughout all phases of a project. This ensures a personal commitment to design quality while providing the highest level of production efficiency and conscientious service.

Our History Continues to Evolve

KCRH was originally founded in 1984 by Steven T. Kikuchi as Kikuchi & Associates. Reflecting ownership expansion, in 2013 we became Kikuchi + Kankel Design Group, and in February of 2025 we transitioned to the name Kankel Conroy Rose & Hill Landscape Architecture to reflect the firm’s structure and ownership. Currently we operate with four managing partners, two in each of our offices.

Operating as a California S-Corporation, our ownership group brings over 90 years of combined professional experience. With offices in Half Moon Bay and Los Gatos, California, our work primarily spans the San Francisco Bay Area, with other projects in Lake Tahoe, Montana, and Idaho.

Our current staff of a dozen employees includes landscape architects, project managers, an in-house arborist, and technical and support personnel. Our current portfolio includes single- and multi-family residential development, low-income housing, park and community center master planning, state highway landscapes, and religious, institutional, and corporate/commercial design.

Community

KCRH’s main office has been located in downtown Half Moon Bay for nearly 40 years, and we opened a second office in downtown Los Gatos in 2007. Throughout this time we have been deeply involved in helping shape our local communities. Our commitment to improving the built and living environment is demonstrated by our continual involvement in assisting local in-need organizations, educational programs and other projects and programs focused on social needs.
